True story of Anna Hazare’s MMRDA (Mumbai) fast

December 31, 2011 by Keyur Seta 11 Comments

With the Government sabotaging the passing of the Lokpal Bill on December 29 by their cheap tactics, Anna Hazare’s grudge against them is proved right. Now, the intentions of the Congress are crystal clear in front of the nation! But I would like to take your attention on some other serious issue.

There has been a massive hue and cry by the media that Anna Hazare’s fast in Mumbai’s MMRDA ground, which took place on December 27 and 28, was a flop as very few people turned up at the venue to support the Gandhian. However, truth is something else at least on the second day.

Agreed, the long distance shots seen on various news channels showed vast empty spaces on the ground. When I saw the footage even I felt the attendance was way below short of expectations. However, recently my brother Fenil Seta and few IAC supporters told me a totally different story.

According to them, large number of people had turned up at the venue but since the ground covers a humongous area, the crowd looked small when seen from long distance. After watching the pictures and videos taken by them, I find no reason not to believe them.

(Article continued after pictures.)

When my brother took the above picture on the second day, he had to use the zoom function to the fullest effect. This is because he was just not able to go anywhere near the stage due to the strong crowd on the second day.

To prove my point further, I would like you to watch the following videos: –

During Hazare’s August fast at Ramlila Maidan in Delhi, the crowd started increasing as the days progressed. Given the fact that the crowd had increased on the second day at MMRDA, it would have increased further if the fast was continued for some more days.

Considering that MMRDA is so far from Bandra and Kurla railway stations, with hardly any BEST buses running on the route, it should be said the turnout was good and the event by no means was a flop! It seems our media either didn’t know the truth or for some strange reason was shying away from reporting actual facts! Was it money? Who knows?

I was present at MMRDA ground on both days. The crowd was moving crowd and it was scattered. There was long queue at the food stall. on 27th the crowd increased in the evening as many people want to join after attending their duties. On 28th many people were waiting at Bandra& Kurla stations but they were misguided by congress that the fast has ended. Also the network was blocked. But still there were more than 25000 people by 6 p.m. The crowd would have definitely increased on 3rd day as many people wanted to stay overnight on 28th. Moreover people were very angry with the govt. and ready to support the movement. People were in COMPLETE JOSH. We were praying that Anna should be all right. He was as important as the movement. The news coming through media was not true.

Thank you so much mam for enlightening people on the true scene at MMRDA.
Yes, the govt and media did a lot to sabotage the movement. But truth always prevails!

      Thanks again.

      Warm regards,

      Keyur 🙂

The abrupt end of the movement was pretty necessary for emotional and intellectual jolt of common sense/common man. After all this was the movement of non-elites. Now the common man has to come to its rescue in its own interest.

protest has to be done against media houses like ndtv which act like congress propaganda channels. a concerted campaign against such media houses should be organised to expose them by protesting in front of their office n exposing paid news n funding of such channels.we all know it is indeed a long struggle to rectify the caucus of the corrupt.

Most of the electronic and print media either has been bought or under some completion from the Ruling Party. What worrying me the most now is the RIGGING of Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) and its programming. You press any button and the vote goes to Congress. A complaint has already been over ruled by the court.

Anna’s movement is our movement . We may not be present but the support will be seen in this election.
We pray Anna to teach Congress a crushing lesson for their misdeeds ! Annajee should address and tell people to boycott all Congress candidates! He did not visit Hissar and we listened him! For UP also Annajee issue an appeal to vote against Congress!

THE MEDIA CROOK ARANAB GOSWAMI FROM NDTV PLAYED A VERY NEGATIVE ROLE. HE MADE SOLID EFFORTS TO MALIGN TEAM ANNA BY LINKING THEM WITH RSS & BJP. I WANT TO ASK THIS BASTARD, IF THE RSS PEOPLE NOT INDIAN?
