So finally, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan delivers and it’s a baby girl. Amitabh Bachchan broke the news on Twitter saying, “I AM DADA to the cutest baby girl !!” Abhishek soon followed with a Tweet, “IT’S A GIRL!!!!!! :-)))))”. Congratulations to Abhishek, Aishwarya and the Bachchan family!
But I fear the media and the people of India will blow things out of proportions. The news might give rise to some national celebration as if India achieved something. So for the next few days (or weeks) we will hear about the baby, which had become world famous even before entering the world!
When Aishwarya and Abhishek got married, the hype generated by the news channels gave a feeling as if it is the first couple in India to get married! Now that the couple has given birth to their first child, I fear it will be reported in a way as if it is the first child to be born in India!
The fact that Aishwarya’s delivery generated Rs 150 crore betting speaks volumes about the craziness surrounding the incident. Sorry to say but such idiocies can take place only in our country.
Now that the news if out, people will do some extra-aish with Aish! News channels (specially the Hindi ones) and Bollywood websites can go crazy now. So, it’s time for me to stay away from them for few days… or, as I said earlier, maybe weeks!
P.S : – Let the Bachchan pariwar live the moment in privacy!

Dear Keyur,
Nice post once again !! Love your unusual takes on popular topics.
Do agree with you to a certain extent that the Bachchans need their privacy, but please remember that ‘Superstardom’ & ‘fame’ come with a price. Perversion & Paparazzi are two such cruel prices celebs have to pay, courtesy their immense popularity.
Bachchan family was already a big name is the industry. Brand Aishwarya’s inclusion in to the family was an exponential addition to the existing brand value. Now, the new born will have to face the music big time. Not just in terms of expectations & dreams but also talent & lifestyle. The poor girl’s life would be literally like Jim Carrey’s ‘TRUMAN SHOW’ !!
This isn’t unique to India, we’ve seen a similar international example in case of Brangelina’s (Bradd Pitt + Angelina Jolie) child.
Let’s face it dude, media today thrives on entertainment, and in today’s world entertainment epitomizes peeping into, ridiculing, making fun of others’ lives. Call it modernization, globalization or ‘ghor kalyug’, this is how it is.
Maximum you & me can do is think differently, , and channelize our focus towards development, upliftment and progress of our nation, which is much more productive an activity, which we have already begun to do, though at a very miniscule level. And you never know people might get tired of this soon and follow suit !!
Keep writing buddy , as we have always been told that Pen is mightier than the sword. Lets key in our thoughts once in a while like these, and try bringing about a positive social change we wish to see among the people.
After all, HUM MAIN HAI HERO !!
