In today’s jungle-like situation, it is vital for the ad filmmakers to come up with more and more innovative ideas so as to grab viewers’ attention. Nothing wrong in this at all. But there is a thin line between out-of-the-box thinking and plain idiocy.
Unfortunately, ad filmmakers making ads for various deodorants or body sprays like Axe, Wild Stone, 18 +, etc have crossed the thin line and ventured so far into the idiotic areas that the very basic function of a deodorant (to destroy body odour) is nowhere to be seen in their ads.
Personally, I feel it is an anti-feminine concept which is garnering no protest whatsoever from any of the pro-feminine groups. If I was a woman, I would feel highly offended by such ads.
In these so-called deodorants’ advertisements, all we can see is a girl getting turned on or sexually aroused after smelling a deo from a man’s body. Her sexual excitement goes to such an extent that without watching daayen ya baayen, she just goes physical with the man although she doesn’t know him even a bit!
By showing such a thing in an advertisement, it looks like the makers are hinting that girls are so dumb that they will have physical pleasure with anyone who smells good. If this is not the case, are they giving a hidden message that in the name of deodorants, we are selling Female Viagra?

Well-written post. The so-called money-minting tactics of ad-makers is a perfect example of what we call, playing to the gallery. They are outlandish, bold, bizarre, sleazy, outrageously lousy. The very essence of why people use a deodorant gets lost in the in-your-face ads. The women are portrayed in bad light. And, very rightly as you said ‘It gives one a feeling that a woman is throwing herself to any Tom, Dick and Harry she meets just by the aroma of the deo. Nonsense! I still remember being ‘scandalised’ on watching the Axe ad (chocolate fragrance) in which the model ‘grabs’ a piece of a man’s butt 😀 covered with chocolate. How grouse! High time, they are ‘AXE-d’.!

Very well said Archana. Couldn’t agree with you more. I do remember that ghastly ad which you have mentioned. Really they should have been axe-ed long back but the world has become a place where all vulgar things are welcomed with open arms. It’s scary to think where we are heading. Let’s see.
Thanks a lot for reading and putting in a thoughtful comment 🙂

Dear Common Man,
There are ‘3 Indias’ existing within our own country.
1) One consists of those who still live simple… think high, and strongly believe in just doing their job sincerely…on the lines of ‘common’ man….PROUD to SAY…you are one among them.
2) Second….comprises ‘WESTERNIZED’ youth…who forget the lines of difference among….freedom,
democracy, social-networking, perversion and shamelessness….
3) Third…the lower middle class, farmers & the ones below poverty line…who still live HAND 2 MOUTH…
So in this war of INDIA vs INDIA, the one which emerges winner shall be the future of the nation… I hope the number ‘one’ wins….
All the best buddy….

Dear Lost Common Man Of India,
Firstly, excuse me for replying late.
Secondly, thanks for the huge compliment you gave me. Grateful to you!
I like your classification of three types of Indians. But I would love to see even the third category of Indians winning. There aren’t doing anything wrong.
You seem to be an interesting fellow.
Regards,
Keyur
